    Why is there a Hoboken Public Library Foundation? I thought there was already a Friends of the Hoboken Public Library organization.

    While both organizations support the library, they do so in different ways. The Foundation is focused on raising capital for specific repair and improvement projects to keep the institution vital for future generations. The Friends supports current programs, such as the purchase of new books, costs associated with developing and teaching classes, cleaning, maintenance, and other immediate needs.

    Why should I support the Foundation if I’m already a Friend of the library?

    While your gift to Friends to support current programs and maintenance is very important to the library, it is also important that future generations of Hobokeners are able to visit a beautiful, well-maintained, safe building in which to explore the printed and recorded wonders within its walls.

    Is my gift to the Hoboken Public Library Foundation tax-deductible?

    Yes. Monetary and other gifts are tax deductible. You can donate appreciated securities, real estate, life insurance policies, charitable trusts, memorials, and bequest provisions. Additionally, many companies support the library by matching employee contributions. As a 501(c)(3) organization, your donations to the Foundation may be deductible for personal or corporate tax purposes. Please discuss the deductibility of donations with your tax advisor. We also recommend that you consult a financial advisor for advice on the methods of giving that are most appropriate for you.

The Hoboken Public Library Foundation Board of Directors are volunteers who donate their time and efforts to help ensure the long-term financial future of the Hoboken Public Library.
